As the word describes 'headaches' are basically pain in the head. Most commonly this pain is either under the back of the skull, on top of the head or felt in the temple region. There are many different types of headaches, such as tension, migraine, cluster etc. and their pain patterns can vary from a low grade ache to extreme pain.
What causes them?
Most often headaches are caused by increased tension load in the upper neck joints and increased tension of the surrounding muscle tissues leading to referred pain to the head. Headaches can also be caused by a variety of other reasons which must be determined for proper treatment. A thorough examination and history must be undertaken to find the root cause of the headache so as to determine the correct treatment program.
